The effects of the high penetration of wind power in the electrical network, as well as the different solutions that permit to improve its integration, attracts the attention of the wind turbines manufacturers, the transmission system operators and the research community.

In the Wind Power Lab, the research and education activities within this field are focused on:

  • Studying the behavior of wind power generation systems under grid fault conditions.
  • Designing specific control strategies for supporting the network under fault conditions.
  • Improving the low voltage ride through capability of wind power systems
  • Designing advanced functionalities for improving the efficiency of wind turbines.
  • Experimenting with grid connected wind power systems
