The 15th of July of 2015 the researchers Alvaro Luna, Jose Ignacio Candela and Joan Rocabert have constituded with the UPC the Spin-off NRG.lab. 

NRG.lab born to meet the current demand of engineering services in the field of electric energy, providing solutions to the advanced development of prototypes, demos, test equipment and systems for the sector of power electronics applied to the electrical systems from the future.

The main objective of the spin off is tackle the design and custom development of demonstrators, pilot plants and prototypes of medium and high power with high added value. NRG.lab is addressed to the universities, research centers and companies linked to the area of grid connection with renewable energy systems, power converters design, smart grids, FACTS design, design of electronic equipment to improve power quality and design of energy storage systems, with the competitive advantage of meeting the unique needs of customers through a close relationship and consumer insight.

It NRG.lab does not offer a single product but a service that transfers a full test platform with which provides support to its customers in a personalized way. To offer this service NRG.lab combines engineering with research providing to ts customers an innovative while technically feasible solutions.
