Our former PhD student Weiyi Zhang has been awarded in 2019 with the prize for his Phd dissertation, entitled "Control of grid connected power converters with grid support functionalities", supervised by Pedro Rodríguez Cortés. His work was devoted to the integration of grid supporting functionalities to existing power conversion systems devoted to deliver power from renewables. In the framework of his work he introduced and studied the integration of Synchronous Power Concepts. The PhD evaluation board, integrated by Dr. Frede Blaabjerg, Dr. Paolo Mattaelli and Dr. Joan Bergas qualified his dissertation as Excellent Cum Laude in June 2017.
